Softball and hardball cricket for beginners and returners alike.

About Women's cricket

Our women's section plays softball festivals and league cricket through the summer. Softball uses a softer ball and needs no protective kit, so it's the easiest way to start.

Many of our players had never picked up a bat before joining. Others are returning after a break or moving up to hardball. Everyone trains together on Thursday evenings.

Questions

What is softball cricket?

Softball cricket is played with a soft ball, so no pads or helmets are needed. Games are short and sociable, which makes it the easiest way into the game for adults.

I've never played cricket. Can I still join?

Yes. Most of our softball players started as complete beginners. Coaches start with the basics, and nobody is put in a match before they're ready.

What do I need to bring?

Trainers or flat-soled shoes, comfortable sports clothes and a water bottle. The club has bats, pads, helmets and balls to borrow, so there's no need to buy kit before you've tried it.

Are there match fees?

Yes, a small match fee covers teas and match balls, on top of the annual subscription. Current rates will be published here (placeholder).

Something else? Ask in the form, or see joining the club.
